Work Records: Free Shoot

Free shoot

In this lesson were aloud to shoot what we like in the studio. I chose to try and take influence from Robert Mapplethorpe in my photos again as I enjoyed his last time. I have tried to show emotion in the face of my model but also try and achieve mixed emotions with the photo.
I like this photo because of how clear Sophie's body and form are against the background even though she is wearing dark clothes against a dark background. Because she is looking over her shoulder into the distance she appears to be full of emotion but what the emotion is exactly is unclear. She is slightly of centre which I would change if I took this photo again as Mapplethorpes photos seem to have symmetry.
I like this photograph because once again the emotion being shown is unclear. Also Sophie is very central in this photo so this shows that it is influenced by Mapplethorpe's work. Part of Sophie's shoulder blends in with the background which I think is quite interesting because this creates different meanings to the photo.

I do not like this photo as much as the others as I think there is too many emotions being shown in Sophie's face at once. Also once again she is off centre which is not really how Mapplethorpes photos were.
