Work Records: Reflection

Reflection

In this photograph I left the college in order to photograph a range of objects showing reflections. This included shop windows, mirrors, glass and signs. It was quite difficult to make these photos different from each other and if I was to do it again I would try and vary the reflection shown as in most of the photos it is my reflection.

I think that this photo makes an effective reflection photo because the reflection is on gold which is not often seen in reflection pictures. If I were to edit this photograph I would cut out the background of the picture so that the reflection is the centre and main point of the photo.

I think this makes an effective photograph for reflection because I have not used myself for the reflection instead it is the reflection of the surrounding area. I think this is clever because the reflection shows what is in the area surrounding the building creating a more complex photo. I also like this photo because reflection is not only shown in the window it is also shown of both cars.

I think that this photo could have been an effective photo sowing reflection but I would change it quite a lot. I would make sure that the lines across the middle up and across were strait and I would also try and take the photo without the ramp in it as this takes the attention away from the reflection shown.

Work Records: Texture

Texture

In this lesson I photographed different textures. The light was good outside so the texture showed up quite well. If I did this lesson again I would photograph more different textures and complete the shoot away from college so that there is a wider range of textures. Overall I think that the texture in the objects I photographed showed up well.
I think that texture is shown well in this picture because you can see all of the cracks and marks on the surface that would create a roughish texture. When I edit this photo I will crop out the black so that only the surface with texture is shown in the picture. I will also try and get rid of the marks on the surface just so that they don't take the attention away from the texture of the surface.

I like this photograph because it shows clearly that the texture of the bark would be rough because of all of the uneven surfaces and holes. To improve it i would cut out the background so the only thing in the photo is the trees bark.

Work Records: Depth

Depth
In this lesson I photographed things that showed depth. This included things like tall buildings, long paths and other things with length or height. I think my photographs of depth show it well although I found this quite a difficult to photograph.

I like this photo graph because the depth is shown through the trees getting smaller and less in focus as it goes further back. Also the depth is show by the lines of the tiles getting closer together the further back they are.

I like this photograph because it is clear that depth is the reason the photo has been taken and it is shown well in the photo. I also like that everything surrounding the wall is blurred out making the focus purely on the depth of the wall.

If i was to do this photo again I would make sure that it was clear that depth is the reason for the photo and make sure depth is shown well in the photograph. I would also try and get less content so that the focus is more on the depth shown in the photo.

Work Records: Pattern

Pattern
In this lesson I looked at pattern in photography. From research I found most patterns are found in animals fur and birds feathers as well as plants and flowers. To improve my pattern photos I would do the shoot out of college to get a wider range of patterns to photograph. I would also make sure that it is obvious that pattern is the thing that I am photographing.
I like this photo because the flower makes an interesting pattern and I think that this is quite a nice photo. To improve it I would zoom into the photo a little more to make sure its clear that pattern is the reason it has been taken.

I like this photograph because it shows a wide variety of patterns instead of just one. To change or improve this photograph I would try and single out some of the patterns so it is clear this is what is being photographed.
I dont like this photograph because it is not clear that pattern is the reason for the photo. Also the drain is not central and not an attractive thing to photograph and the colour on one side takes away the focus from pattern that the drain had.

Work records: Colour

Colour
In this lesson I was photographing colour. I found this in things like, the sky, grass and flowers. I tried to make sure that colour was only thing in these photographs although this was not always possible, and some things I photographed had multiple colours which added contrast between them. I think that these photos could be improved by them all being blocks of colours.

I like this photograph because it clearly shows that colour is the main thing in the photo but you can also still tell that is a door due to the details.
I also like this photograph because the bright red berries contrast with the green leaves. To improve this photograph I would cut out the grass and bottom of the tree so that all that is seen is the green and red. I could also have taken a picture of just the berries to show the red or just the leaves to show the green.

I dont like this photograph because colour is not necessarily the main focus of the picture, also the bin is not central and some has been cut out.

Work Records: Lines

Lines

In this lesson I had to take pictures with lines as the main focus point. This included things such as buildings, windows and bricks. If I was to do this lesson again I would make sure that the lines in my photos are the main focus point in the picture, as it is not always clear that this was the aim in my photo. I would also make sure there was more variety in my photos as they pretty much seem to show strait lines and are only really of bricks, buildings and flooring.

I like this photo because it shows lines on the wall, floor and chairs and also the chairs are in a line. The chairs also make quite an interesting photograph.
I also like this photo because it is clear that lines are the main point for taking the photo. If i took this photo again I would try and get some curved lines in the photograph in order to add some variation.
I dont like this photograph because none of the lines are strait and its not clear that lines are what were being photographed. If i were to edit this photo I would crop it so that lines were the main focus and I would make sure that the lines were vertical or horizontal.

10/01/2014

In todays lesson I will use photoshop tutorials to explore and more advanced in using photoshop.
I will also make a personal checklist so I know exactly what I need to do to make my work the best it can be.

In this lesson I completed two computer experiments using a tutorial, they were adding text to a photo and adding a realistic rainbow to a photo. I also changed my work records so that they were separate posts. I finally went through my work and got a checklist with what I still need to change.
